Working together
Cycling products succeed or fail at the intersection of physics, rider physiology, and real-world conditions. Marketing copy rarely lives there; I do. I’ve been writing about cycling technology since 2007; not as a hobbyist with opinions, but as someone with a graduate background in the philosophy of technology and communications, two decades of multi-discipline riding across every season, and a compulsion to understand why things work before saying that they do. This combination has led to long-term partnerships with Castelli, Lake Cycling, Woven Precision Handbuilts, Rene Herse, SQ Lab, Effetto Mariposa, and Julbo, brands whose products hold up to rigorous analysis because they’re built with genuine engineering intent. What I offer isn’t reach, it’s credibility and depth.
Product Knowledge Writing
I translate the decisions behind products into language that builds durable trust with the riders most likely to become long-term customers. I don’t do reviews or marketing copy with a byline; my writing makes a product’s design logic legible, so that the right rider finds it and understands exactly what they’re buying and why.
My work on Castelli and Polartec’s AirCore and Alpha Direct textiles is a recent example: I start from thermodynamics first principles, work through material architecture, and arrive at practical field guidance grounded in documented testing across a fall and winter in Eastern Canada.
Product Development Consulting
I think in systems, test at boundary limits, and have a track record of identifying where products and categories are heading before the market gets there. I’ve consulted on gravel bike geometry for emerging brands at no cost, because the problem interested me. If you’re developing something and want a collaborator who will engage with your constraints honestly — materials, manufacturing, rider use cases, market positioning — I’m interested in that conversation.
Who is a Good Fit
The brands I work best with are those with people at the top who care about what they’re building. Not brands looking for content volume or follower counts, but brands where a product director or founder would read a 3,000-word analysis of textile loft architecture and find it useful. If that’s you, reach out.
